Re: The random thought thread
Hmm, what a week it has been.
Went to the Doc's for a routine check up last week. A day later I was diagnosed with late stage cancer.
My doc says I need chemo and radiation asap. I think I'm going to move into a specialized hospital in Texas or somewhere on the west coast by next week.
Anyway, I won't be around anymore.
Wish me luck......Leave a comment:

Re: The random thought thread
Today I just saw the Mission Impossible episode called The Money Machine. It's from October of 1967, and the proposition is a digital color copier that can digitally print the currency of Ghana. I especially like the color printing technology.
I almost fell out of my chair when Greg Morris climbs inside the device. When it's operated, Greg then proceeds to manually empty the paper tray, then slip preprinted pages into the exit tray. He's also responsible for cutting the currency to size (again a drawer receptacle, and pre-cut currency manually placed into another tray), and depleting the ink reservoirs, by way of removing alligator clips from vinyl ink tubes.
The device is essentially a dark green powder-coated metal box, with a 10" tape drive on the front and a bunch of cool blinking indicator lights and toggles. I looked for a video clip, but I'm sorry to say I couldn't find one. It's really good for a laugh if you get the chance.

Drones programmed to automatically stalk public figures is a privacy problem waiting to happen.
Not to mention other forms of nefarious/sinister deviot surveillance from using drone aircraft.
Begs the question, is the legal an ethical system keeping pace with progress of technology?Leave a comment:

Gene Cernan, last astronaut on the moon, dies on 82 - KWWL - Eastern Iowa Breaking News, Weather, Closings
I was in third grade the last time we were on the moon.
There's a pretty good display of the equipment used for that in Huntsville AL, if you're ever curious. At least there used to be anyway. Theoretically I've got a picture of my brother standing inside the bell of one of the space shuttle's main engines from back in the day when we went there.Leave a comment:

I liked the TV series Andromeda, even if the amount of drama was sometimes larger than I cared for.
Deus ex machina is OK when used cleverly though.Leave a comment:
