      Re: FOOD

Start by slightly under cooking boiled potatoes.
Cut them up in a bowl until fine but not to fine leave a little texture.
Mix some egg white, corn flour and water to make a binder. About one large egg white to 4 medium potatoes.
Wait for the potatoes to cool down.
Cut some mixed herbs (dried), salt, pepper and the binder into the potatoes.
Make palm sized oblong balls from the mix.
Heat up a 1/4 of an inch of cooking oil in a pan and fry until golden brown.

I think my crock pot might qualify here. You put the ingredients in before you leave for work, and it's ready to eat when you get home.

If you like Tabasco sauce, try Franks Redhot cayenne pepper sauce. (it's not really hot, it's just good).

We've own a twist-lock lid style pressure cooker for 30+ years. Is there anyway to stop the large 'O'-ring seal in the Lid from deteriorating ?

We bought the cooker new and never needed to replaced the lid seal for years on end. Now all we seem to do is buy a new $30 seal every 12-18 months.

I appreciate any hints or tips to make a good Lid seal out of 'X'-material.

You might want to look for oxidization in the contact area for that seal. At least that's what spelled doom for the seal on my mom's pressure cooker back in the day.

To prevent oxidation of the metal, and to preserve the elasticity of the rubber seal, wipe the rubber seal with vegetable oil after cleaning, and before sealing up the cooker. We've had the same pressure cooker for 25+ years. We did purchase a seal kit a few years back, but not for the ring seal. The black plug in the lid was failing to seal, and not building pressure. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I actually use vegetable oil as a lubricant on the lid seal every time prior to locking down the lid on the pot.
I feel the propellant in the pressure pack can of vegetable oil is probably causing the problem.
The propellant must be a very thin hydrocarbon base oil because it turns the Lid seal to something like chewing gum within 12-18 months.
Only light viscosity oil like brake fluid/WD40 is able to penetrate into rubber an do those kinds of softening reactions.

I'm thinking of making a new Lid seal out of silicone rubber. Silicone will resist heat up to 500degC. Silicone melts around 1400degC or there abouts.

                        Will play some more....
