As there is a Service Manual Requests area, maybe there should be a Firmware Requests area.
Maybe rename the Manual Requests forum to Manuals and Firmware requests? would that work or are the requests bettor off in the brand specific forums? (just thinking out loud)

That would work great imho.
Btw to have Admin hanging around from time to time is great moral boost for a lot of us frequent users, keep coming we need you and appreciate your efforts.

Is there any chance that this function is disabled until some minimum number of posts is accrued, and pop-up explaining that? Or perhaps link it to the contributor badge? Seems logical to me.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
hi,
you could have a pre set rep score/ posts limit - user ranks.
for example >
if your only under 100 posts or something you can only read the posts but cannot reply or create new topics
and if your higher & have donated to ctn you have full access. and have a rules / notice banner letting new and current users of the rules inside the requests page.

I think the idea would be to limit only the firmware/manuals forum until some minimum is reached. It wouldn't stop them from posting the same information elsewhere though.

I think the simplest solution is to just add 'and Firmware' to Service Manual Requests. As I see it, one has to do the same thing for sending service manuals as one would have to send firmware.
If nobody likes the guy doing the askin', then too bad to be him. I also think that it is clearly seen by everyone how much someone has been here and how active they have been. If ya don't think he's worthy, don't help him. Also too bad to be him. IMHO that eliminates the need for minimums of any kind.

There's my two cents.
Totally agree. And we at Copier / Printer firmware towers can supply both.
