    [CQ] IR C2020 Deletions

Hello all...first time posting in Canon.

We have a client that we picked up that has mostly our products (Kyocera) but have asked us to look at their C2020.

They replaced their Black Drum unit in December of last year and are now getting deletions along the inboard (top to page) edge. See attached. They run about 1-2k per month, so this drum unit has about 6-8k on it (best guess since the tech couldn't find the counter in sim mode).

I'v read a few threads here about the ink hopper, drum unit, firmware, etc. possibly causing deletions and light pages. This looks more like development to me, i.e. no toner making its way onto the drum.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Mike

can not see your attachment. those machines automatically reset counter with drum replacement. might need to clean laser glass.

Was that supposed to be a solid black image who's latent developed image is on the drum? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Correct . . . Copy with the glass exposed, crashed the paper in the middle of the copy process. Tech showed me copy samples and the picture of the drum. It looks like a mag roller is starved for toner or developer.

Yes, could be the black drum... But can also be a stained laserglass.
lately i even seen 2020/2220 giving half pages because of toner in laser compartment itself (the plastic strips/ Mylars).
Thank God i've got small hands and thin arms so i could clean it...

I'd take out the laserunit and clean up first...

Skyshots on CIS scanners will not give you solid black page like an analog machine. Generate a test page in service mode. Tell your boss he is opening a can of worms if you don't have any documentation...lol. Laser comes out super easy on these machines...remove left cover and pull it out pretty well

Laserunit comes out so easy you'd think they knew on forehand it had to be done often. I don't even bother using the blue stick.

Be carefulle with placing the unit back though... Beware of the cable on the right side and clean the flat cable on the end before sticking 'em back. They can give you a heap of extra unexpected problems...
