[Dead] Error: Insert drum cartridge

Hello,

I have had the device for years and it has worked very well so far. Unfortunately, the black drum resulted in a poor print image. Thus, I had to exchange this. After replacing an original drum comes the error "Insert drum cartridge". Now I have read here that a firmware update can be useful. Can someone provide me with the tool and the current firmware? Currently the following is installed:

9003.7601.4801

Which model are you referring to? i'm guessing the IRA C2880 series.

Drum problem, take chip out from old drum, install in new drum, reset drum counter, good to go.

ok, thanks. Now I have the firmware and the SST. After starting the application, I can't get a connection. I have already registered the firmware. Do I have to use a cross-over cable? Do I have to adjust the IPs in the laptop and also in the SST tool? Sorry for all the questions but Canon makes it really hard.

Little chip is right on the drum, just swap then out. Careful not to break it. Over the years, did many times when running into that message. Don't have anymore of those machine's out.

I think there might be a little cover that needs to be removed to pop out the chip.

OK. I found the chip and replaced it. The counter of the drum was already set to 0. Unfortunately, it still does not work.

i have found a cross over cable. Set the IP addresses and get a ping. Only unfortunately I get on "Connect" no device displayed.

It is easier to create a boot USB pen using the SST then upload the firmware using that (no need to a crossover cable etc)
