Canon LaserClass 830i "waiting..." message all the time.

I have one of these fax machines that is stuck on "waiting..." Fuses OK on the AC board. When fuser is unplugged get 120VAC on fuser line, then relay clicks, and no voltage. When fuser is plugged in, get low ACV, but relay clicks and zero again. Could be the Power Supply, or something telling the power supply to turn off? Any experience or ideas? Anyone have a part catalog? Thanks!

Fixing unit didn't fix it. Maybe DC-Controller? Or pinched wire? A RAM stick or something like that was tried a while ago also...

if u can get in service mode>Additional Function button then press 2 followed by 8 (do not press 2 and 8 at the same time) then press Additional Function. This should place you into Service Mode.
u can delete the image memory without having to do an All Clear/go into Test Mode and conduct a DRAM test, the image memory will clear as a result of testing the memory. Other user programmed information will remain intact.
Once you are in service mode, you will use the left or right arrow keys to scroll over to the test mode option. Enter test mode and select option 1 for DRAM. Press option 1 again to start the DRAM test.

The DRAM test will begin and the machine will display asterisks as the test proceeds. Once the first round of the test finishes, a second round begins where you will see another progression of asterisks. On some models you may see dots instead of the asterisks during the second phase of the test.

Once the test is finished, you will see a message saying "complete no error". At this point, press the stop key 2 times to return to the main test mode menu.

Now you may exit test mode by pressing either the clear key or the Additional Functions key depending on the model with which you are working.

The machine will now display the message "Please Wait" and the unit will cycle and should return to the normal working state.

if it fails try next >>
Power off/on & try to quickly get in service mode/To enter Service Mode press
Additional Function button then press 2 followed by 8 (do not press 2 and 8 at the same time) then press Additional Function. This should place you into Service Mode.

if u can get in do a clear/ scroll to CLEAR and press OK / scroll to Department User Clear and press OK/ & if all fails try an ALL CLEAR-(Use with caution - this will initialize all user, network, and service settings; print/backup important data first)/press OK / press Stop / reboot the unit.

Thanks, but I still can't get into Service Mode. The book says it checks the Image Processing Board on start, so I am going to order that and try it next! The DC Controller was tried also (NG).

Hmmm... you got a strange one... I would start thinking something bizare outside of a board issue. Without digging into the manual, I would assume this model does a beam detect of the laser, a quick check of the CIS and I think it initializes the ADF during to warm up sequence? I had one when these first came out not coming on all the way and i think I just reseatted all of the connectors to all of the PCBs and it never acted up again. Not getting into service mode sounds more like it could be a software issue? Did you try pulling that USB thumb drive and turning it on or try re-flashing the machine. I am not sure where you get the software for these puppies or if its available. Hope your customer didn't have a reliable LC 710/730 before this, because these models are a huge disappoints to replace those beasts. Let us know how the IP Board does.

Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
                B/W Copier = Not A Press

Did u know that you can re-load System Software in the waiting state message !!!!!

Product : Laser Class Series 810/830i Title : Machine Displays Waiting Issue :
After initial boot up the machine cycles and progress bar completes, the display turns off then displays the message "Waiting..". The same message displayed when it is placed in download mode before it is connected to the PC.

                  Solution :
Reloading the System Software resolved this issue in this case.

make sure the registration sensor (SR11)
& delivery sensor (SR5) are connected & not locked up
/ and are receiving correct V

did your machine ever display jam/error codes before ??

did u try to remove /& clean the memory contacts

on hard drive > unplug HDD>turn on machine see if it boots up with an error code ??

                    How?

No, the manual led me to beleive you had to get into service mode to do so!

Is this from a Canon KB article?

                    Thanks!!

if u can't get in to service mode like i posted before/ u may have a stuck key on control panel
a stuck will also cause a "waiting" message
