    C5185 Fuser Unit

The $1900 new OEM replacement cost seems a bit crazy.

    Is anyone rebuilding these?

I am getting the "smear" along the side edge of the sheet. When my C3200's do this it is usually the Fuser Unit.

See pic... only on that edge, and never when set to Heavy 1 or 2 stock.

cold be a paper arc issue at Trans Roller

check your image on ITB before transfer to paper/ remove that small side cover over Manual Feed tray & watch image process on belt/ - if ok check Trans Roller position- if ok remove and inspect fuser unit

Never had this fuser giving any image problems, they just tear and break and give an E0007 error. Smearing is ussually the lower side itb scraping to the metal itb cover.

I forgot that plate can become dirty and bent & cause a smear of image on corner
