Decode the IFT file in HD format

Has anyone is able to decode the IFT file in HD format for IR-IRC,
or have a list of compatible HD for IR and IRC machines ?
    I have no success.

Original HD with system is very expensive for my clients.
    Any help is welcome.

You first need to look in the C:\Canon File Folder\SST System Software Folder\SST Files-under the Printer Models Firmware HDFormat_v folder, inside you will see an ITF File , u open it with Notepad to see the available HDD's for Model. U can then Modify the HDD Descriptor.[see pdf] . if u can not find HDD model #

Only Canon HDD are supported, because the drives come pre loaded with the BIOS Software to boot the machine
if the HDD was formatted with an older version of the SST? After formatting the HDD, the machine constantly reboots and Download Mode is not accessible.

If a HDD was formatted with an older version of the SST, a new drive will need to be installed. In some cases, the Main Controller may have to be sent to an APRF facility (Nationwide or Hytec) to be reset.

        Note:1
ONLY USE SERVICE SUPPORT TOOL VERSION 4.04. Delete any earlier versions of the SST from the laptop and install version 4.04Eq. Version 4.04Eq will not allow formatting of the HDD, because this model does not support formatting of the drive.

HDD formatting is not supported on this series-unless a HDD Data Encryption Kit-B5 is being installed in the machine. The installation instructions for the Encryption Kit do tell you to format the HDD. The instructions are correct; and it is ok to format the HDD, only during the installation of the HDD Data Encryption Kit-B5.

I forgot it's because of the optional HDD Data Encryption Kit
The HD Format file has been revised due to a change in the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). When an HDD Data Encryption Kit is installed, the Hard Disk Drive requires formatting.

Points to Note at Hard Disk Failure: “*Please Read Note”
When any hard disk failure occurs on the existing models, you can enter Safe mode by pressing the 2 and 8
keys simultaneously and write the firmware by formatting the hard disk. Nothing is written in the hard disk
for service parts, so such a hard disk can be used in common between multiple models. The machine’s
BIOS (equivalent to the conventional Boot ROM) has a function which writes the program stored in the
hard disk to the main memory and activates the main CPU, but does not have the functions to format and
write the firmware. Like existing models, this machine can start in Safe mode by pressing the 2 and 8 keys
simultaneously, but the program needs to be stored in the hard disk. For some reasons, if you cannot start in
Safe mode by pressing the 2 and 8 keys simultaneously, you will need to replace the hard disk.
The machine’s hard disk service part has the minimum firmware written on it which enables downloading,
so the hard disk is dedicated to this machine. Only the program for downloading is written in the hard disk,
so make sure to download the latest firmware after replacing the hard disk. At this time, please use the Safe
        mode.
*Note: Unlike the conventional method, “Format ALL” is not necessary after replacing the hard disk. The current hard disk should NOT be formatted. If the current hard disk drive is formatted, replacement of that hard disk drive is required.

Your best bet is to download the latest hdformat file if you have access to Canon tech support site. If not you are stuck. This series of machines stores the boot file on the HDD and you have to have a canon HDD with this BIOS preloaded on it.

We have not been able to get around using the Canon HDD for the newer machines as not only is the IFT file encrypted, but they load a file on the drive that using even a like drive does not have. I have considered getting a like drive then using a bit clone to copy a working drive, then reloading system software - but have not tried it yet.
