Never done this HD- cloning thing myself, but from what I read on this forum it seems there's another "round- about" way of beating this SST thing. I wouldn't be surprised though, nature itself teaches us that there's more than one way of solving problems. As for you mfdarvesh, I suggest that you make that " HDD- clone" guru/ rocket scientist your best friend as long as you are in this business. The logic is simple: " To become wealthy, one needs to be nearer to the source of wealth".
I have been following this thread for sometime. To clear all doubts clonning is 100% success .like another member who earlier said in this thread I have SST and firmware for most of my machines except 7105 series.I clone the Hard disk . I have been using HD clone, acronis and paragaon . I found HD clone as the simplest.
To the problem at hand I am not sure of the cloning will work if you manualy make changes.
You can clone between same capacity disk.
You cannot clone from a higher capacity disk to a smaller capacity disk
You can clone from a smaller capacity disk to a larger capacity disk.
Either you are not doing the cloning process correctly or there is some fault in your hard disk. Try with a new 20GB hard disk . I am havent seen a new hard disk less than 100+GB in recent times.
Good luck
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one
Why worry sata, see the tp11 and tp11-2 posted by our dearest teckat.
There is such piece as << SATA/IDI> USB Adaptor FULL KIT >> from many vendors. Here one of decisions of the given problem, if is not present near at hand SST.

Thank You
with same capacity of 20 GB, it works,
with higher capacity, me no successful in cloning and not successful with HPA
The IRxx00 series uses maximum disk space of 10.5 GB on a 20 GB HD. The rest of HD space is unused. So it's OK to write the disk image to 10.5, 15 and 20 GB HD (Clone a larger capacity HD to a smaller capacity HD). Maximum accessible area from the machine is limited to 20GB. It is required to cut down HD size to 20GB for any HD that has capacity larger then 20GB. (This only needs one more step in your entire cloning work.)
Does my message confuse U? If u're very busy with the normal machine services, I suggest you to let your computer guru to play with the HD.
Lastly, have you ever think "how to make full use of 20 GB HD" so the remaining 9GB won't be wasted?

Thank you very much for such a detailed reply
Yes I am able to clone disk on 20 GB new HD and it is working fine
I am working on higher capacity HD cloning, which are common these days,
with HPA, hope I will be succeeded soon
I use Paragon Harddisk Manager to clone and I always succeed in cloning harddisk, even with different size. The tricks are; you have to delete the partition first and reformat it. Finally you have to check the option of HDD raw copy in advance setting.
