Main Scan is not the paper feed direction
Paper feed direction is the Sub Scan direction

    see example below from iR5180

Replace Blade / Check to see if the Drum Heater is coming on/ AP Kit ????
      also it
may be caused by the waste toner not being moved from directly behind the drum cleaning blade to the waste toner auger because of a waste toner drive assembly failure. To diagnosis this failure open the front door of the imageRUNNER 105 / 8500 / 7200 and then remove the purple cover that is in front of the AP kit. When a copy is made the white gears on the front of the AP kit should rotate. If they do not the waste toner drive assembly has failed and requires replacement.

what is your Firmware ver. ?????
there was a DCON v40.92 update for blade lines in 2006

usually cleaning the ends of the drum, polishing the drum surface and a new drum blade will do the trick. Also make sure your exhaust filters are clean to keep the internal temperature down!
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
