iRC3170 - replacing HDD, firmware update

    Hello

Printer Canon iRC3170, after replacing the disk and uploading software (+ language, RUI, etc.), the printer will not start. A progress bar appears, comes to the middle and the device does not respond.

Please help, what am I doing wrong?

    greetings

Re: iRC3170 - replacing HDD, firmware update

                    v40.01 is last version

                    I believe the 3170 uses a 80GB HDD & THE 3100 a 40GB HDD/ 40GB will not work in the 3170

The ALL_HDF batch file does NOT format the HDD. The HDD must be formatted by using the HDFormat file. On the newer model machines, you must connect to the device in 'Single Mode' to format the HDD with the HDFormat file.

If you replace the HDD on a machine, the HDD must be formatted using the HDFormat file BEFORE performing a batch install with the ALL_HDF batch file. Otherwise, the ALL_HDF batch install will fail.

sorry, that v00.12 Format file was for iRC3100 PRINTER

your HDD is listed in the iR3100 format file list- that does not mean it will be accepted in the 3170/ unless it was purchased from Canon as a OEM

when u select SINGLE to format the 3170 HDD - what is the SST error message EXACTLY

your HDD may not be supported for the iR3170/ The HD Format v00.09 .itf file is encrypted , so u are not able to see supported HDD's

if u did not purchase this HDD from Canon

I changed disk to WD Caviar WD800 (80gb), unfortunately is the same effect.

These disks are NOT provided by Canon, it's normal disk from PC.

                        Any ideas ?

the HDD format has to be done at the machine through the SST for the firmware to load. Where did you get the firmware for this unit? Did you go in and modify the ift file? If so make sure it is in a read only format after changing it. The Western Digital HDD should be supported, but if it is not you have to put the SN of that HDD in that file so the SST can read it.
