Canon iR Adv C 5051 - Slow Copying

    Thanks for looking!

When copying the first 8-10 sheets come out at normal speed, and then sheets 10 thru 20 get slower.

The last couple of sheets have several seconds between them.

Wondering if it might be a fuser losing temp problem, but really hoping to hear from someone who has seen before.

    Thanks again.

It begs the question,, what media are you running the copies on, and have you check the paper "types" listed for the cassette you are running the pages from?

remove the Dimms and Memory, clean and reinsert.

ALSO-Check the service mode for TEMP-C in Display>Analog. Check if the TEMP-C value is dropping to approx 150 degrees. A normal value is closer to 190/200 degrees. Replace the fixing film assembly: FM3-5950-000, and retest.

During a copy or print job, check the select paper , and screen see if the indication for cassettes-
      flicker
/ back and forth repeatedly between paper and a load paper message-
could be a faulty cassette driver

What is the orientation? If you are running long paper sizes, the machine will slow down to compensate for uneven fuser heat along the edges. I've seen this with a cust who was insisting on running a certian job ltr r. Are they running lgl, or ltr r when this occurs?

all good advice here. I would also check your firmware on this device and make sure it is at the latest possible. There are several updates that pertain to issues with the fixing unit in previous firmware releases.

I think the latest firmware release solves a problem with slow printing of PDF's...

Just to add a little strangeness

I have had 3 of my 50XX's ( out of around 150 I have ) run "slow" e.g a 5030 running at a SOLID 9 copies a minute. Everything else is fine, fuser temp, stock type etc etc. Each time a reboot cleared the problem. With the first one I encountered, it got a reboot only. Which cleared the fault for 3 months. After this the others were rebooted anyway as part of upgrading the firmware and have not came back for the issue. So 6 months plus.

sometimes performing a DCON clear can eliminate "odd" issues on these advanced series machines as well.
