Thanks for tip about connectors.....

Local copier repair/ service guy says it is motor - stated this over the phone when i told him error code - i am really at his mercy as need to get it up and running

NO Color trained CLC1100 Series Tech can diagnose this E 072 error on the phone/
Canon does not even support this series anymore--

if I told u home many tech pubs concern this error over the past 10 years--u would faint


some things that can contribute to E072

1-Transfer Drawer connector/WIRE HARNESS
2-A bent separation claw drive plate( that brass leaf plate that rides along transfer drum metal teeth )
3-Transfer driver PCB
4-Cracked Frame connector
5-Cleaner Brushes locked up(paper jammed inside behind rollers)
6-Door switches (supplied voltage)
7-DC FUSE PCB
8-Transfer Cleaning Assembly(housing could be warped or the bearings could be seizing)

I could go on & on

I had only 2 motor errors in 15 years.

if a tech is not trained on this model or has heavy experience from shop repair/ field repair -

they are just looking at a manual to see what likely points to error/
it took Canon field supervisors over two years (1999 > 2002 to try and pinpoint these E072 ERRORS

Thanks for prompt replies - i do not know a thing about this clc1180 - all looks very complicated inside - do you think it would be an expensive fix if i called a repairman out..

I've got two copiers with ceramic toners too (clc1100 and clc700); I spent 4-5 years in studying guides and manuals. Lots of my problems were so simple, I would have spent too much money calling techs. If you've never seen and used a copier you should spend time in studying (operator's manual first - colorPass user Guides - Service Manual), you could not solve problems with changing it. Ceramic toners cost TOO much to waste them away. I had a service manual from technicians of my copiers, but I've also found it on Internet. If you need something let me know. Good luck!

Over the years there have been over 35 tech pubs just on E072/ those pubs are long gone and not available anymore> unless u saved them-

a user or novice on those models is usually lost when it comes to that error/ service manuals will not help on that error> it points to a source direction > that's useless unless u have worked in the field to experience that error-

we don't even give contracts on those models anymore & charge 275.00 hr. to service w/ no guarantee on solutions

Hi Barbara, Thanks for reply, have downloaded service manual from the internet - but error code: e072002 could be many things.... i would love to get my clc 1180 up and running the ceramic print quality is the best - but i am now looking to go down the ricoh route... you are the first person i have found who uses clc for ceramic printing - thanks for taking the time to reply...

I still have all my techs pubs on this beast. We still support 3 of them that use the device for promotional type products. No contracts - $125 for every 30 minutes we are there and they eat up the fuser rollers, t-sheets and drums in all of them. Great revenue for us though!

No, I havent that pubs, only SM, and I've seen E072 is a difficult error. I haven't found it in my copiers for now, I hope to never found it in the future .
In effect I'm not a tech, only a very trained operator - I suppose I could easily become a tech with a teacher - In the last few years I learned to solve lots of my copier errors thanks to my SM, my passion in these machines, and this site too, but I don't pretend to feel like a tech.

we came across these clc machines cause someone - years ago - proposed them for the specifical job we wanted to do: printings with ceramic toners to apply on tiles. If you take a look to the site of the only italian producer of ceramic toners, they still propose CLC 11xx series systems among with other Ricoh models. http://www.balteadc.it/sistemi_en.html
Problems are still frequents, but for now I have to make the best of a bad situation !
