    Canon NP6216

    I have a few of these machines that make dirty copies with foggy background. This problems occurs when I add a new toner. I have a few solutions, but none appear to be permanent. I can solve this by making 100s of copies and the copy image gets much clearer. Another solution would be if I suck clean a developing assembly and install a new toner. If you add a new toner before the old one gets empty solves this ploblem, but it's still not a permanent solution for a customer. A already replaced a developing assembly, HVT assembly, drum unit.

    Are you using OEM toner with the hologram on the box, or aftermarket toner?

          The cause is toner for sure.
          Just obtain it from a reliable source always, agood packing material or a hologram is not a proof of genuine toner. Otherwise advise the customer to do away with old models which are most characterized with adulterated toners.

              Way back when I was working on Mitas I would see this. The machine would have to undertone before it asked for toner. When toner was installed, the machine dumps in so much toner at once that it overtones. Gradually over 50 to 100 pages, the toner density stabilizes at a normal level. If service was called, the issue usually was gone by the time I arrived. Or if it still was giving a little background, I would run a few 30% fill originals to detone the developer a little. Then I would give a little shrug and move on. The key was knowing that toner was just installed.

              I'm thinking that a Canon NP model must be monocomponent though. After 26 years you might consider selling them something new. =^..^=
              If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
