    Envelope (Long Edge Feed) COM10 104.7 241.3

The Correct Procedure for the Tray Width Adjustment on the Multi-purpose Tray is listed below.

*Start off by entering the door spec for the Multi Purpose Tray, then follow the procedure below.

    1) Set A4R paper on the Multi-purpose Tray, and set the guide so
that it fits the paper width.
    (Lv.1) Copier > Function > CST > MF-A4R
    2) Select the item, and then press OK key.
The value is registered after automatic adjustment.

    3) Set A4 paper on the Multi-purpose Tray, and set the guide so that
    it fits the paper width.
    (Lv.1) Copier > Function > CST > MF-A4
    4) Select the item, and then press OK key.
The value is registered after automatic adjustment.

This makes no sense. The MP Tray can run envelopes both ways but should be dependent on installation of inner finisher. Without the inner finisher the envelopes should be fed via long edge. I have no clue what your other jargon about setting the A4R paper and such. There's no such settings even in the service mode.

Can the machine make a copy job onto com10 once it's set in the bypass? And for clarification, when you put something in the BP it shows you numerous different presets? Cut the problem in half, is it the machine not being able to feed com10 via a copy job? Can you print on a LTR sized paper through the BP? Have you performed the MF adjustments? (should of asked that one first to be honest with you) COPIER>ADJUST>CST-ADJ>MF-A4R, MF-A6R, MF-A4 > double check with door spec.

When you perform function > cst > select one of the mf's and then move the side guides in the bypass. The number displayed should changed.

Could not get device status. Got device status from driver on server, corrected paper size issues and it worked

Noticed something odd. The Canon printer driver settings show COM 10 size as 104.7 x 241.3mm and Word has the COM size in Page Setup as 104.8 x 241.3mm. Could this be the problem?

No. Whenever I put paper in the MP tray the machine asks to manually set the paper size and type from the display. Is that wrong?

Check if the Feed Method is set to "Print Side Priority"
    ;

if so > change to "Speed Priority" should resolved the issue.

Press (Settings/Registration) → [Function Settings] → [Common] → [Paper Feed Settings] → [Feed Method Switch] → "Speed Priority"
    *Note*
Print Side Priority prints on the side facing up- envelopes are required to be face-down in the bypass.

or--User is Prompted to Load Paper when Printing on Envelopes from Microsoft Word

The problem can be resolved by setting the proper Feed From location in the Printing Options section of the Envelopes and Labels Window in Word.
The proper Feed From location is AUTO.
    To set this correctly:

    1) On the Tools Menu, select Envelopes and Labels.

    2) Within the Envelopes and Labels Window, select the Options button.

    3) This will bring up a new Window with two tabs: Envelope Options and Printing Options. Select the Printing Options Tab as shown below.

    4) At the bottom of this Window, you will see the Feed From drop down Menu.

    5) Set this option to AUTO or the Envelope Tray and this should resolve the problem.

I'm stumped. I am trying to print a #10 envelope from word using the MP tray. I put the envelope in vertically face down (without the envelope feeder) as stated in the manual, select the paper type and size accordingly into the imagerunner and it keeps telling me to load the paper that's already loaded! If I do to register a custom size, the minimum height it allows is 5.25" or something so I can't put it in the orientation specified. Any advice? Thank you.

Sounds confusing but I've been down this route a few times. The flaky photo-interrupt(changed many) has to do with detecting any paper inserted in bypass tray. If you have no issues sensing other media put into manual tray(stick it in,asks what size),then it is not the machine but the way the job is sent to it. Bet a beer Word is causing it or VR for bypass has to be re-programmed(service mode)
Already done. I've used this driver with the LBP7780Cdn and MF9280 without any problems. The printer does not accept the suggested orientation. You can't even specify a custom vertical (X) size that is under 5.50".

Thanks for the reply. I already made sure this setting is set to off. Very strange. The printer specifies the COM10 size but acts as if there's not COM10 envelope in the paper tray. Again, I can't even set the COM10 to a custom size as both the X and Y measurements are under the minimum allowed size. This is a very very very bizarre glitch.
