    Canon NP 4050 Problems

Our office just got a Canon NP4050 and we can't get it to work. We turn on the machine, and after the warm up message goes away, it won't allow us to do anything. No matter what buttons we press, nothing happens. Hoping someone has any idea what the problem could be. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

what do you mean nothing appears, no screen display?
have paper in tray and press the copy button anyway and see if it works.

What exactly does the display say, if anything? The diagnostic codes often just look like random characters, i.e. E020. Do you hear the motor running during initial rotations?

If there's no error yet the panel is unresponsive, it could be as simple as a button stuck down on the keypad. When any one button is currently being pressed none of the others work. For this condition you have to press each button listening for the little 'click'. When you find the one that doesn't 'click', that is the one that is stuck down. The panel can be disassembled, and the various buttons cleaned with a toothbrush. If you pay attention you'll see the dirt & dust packed into the crevices around the buttons.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Just came in, and the IT guy said he got it working. The machine wasn't showing any errors, but once in maintenance mode it said we had an E202 error, so he says. Seems to be working now, just needs to be cleaned. Thanks for the replies ^_^
