    canon ir5000i, stuck!

hey guys, got a copier canon ir5000i. the problem is that sometimes the copier stuck or just hang. I can not copy the document whenever i used the feeder because of these. I don't know how to describe it but no paper will be printed because the machine stuck. no error will be displayed on the monitor.. and after 5-10 mins.. the machine will just shut off by itself. i check the error history and e240 was found in there. i chech the dc con, unplug and replug all the wires but still same problem occurs.. the machine have only a copy volume of 400500...

check your ram, is it the old style main board? could be the main board, even the hard drive. check the connector between the main and dc controller. It only happens when you use the doc feeder? waht is your versions of doc feeder compared to the system. they need to match. doc feeder chip should be the proper version listed to the proper version of system software. Take a look at the version chart to see what is what.

Hard drive........seen it too many times. However, try holding 1 and 9 and powering on the machine and wait for a couple hours (lol) for it to do the media check (or whatever the Canon name for it is) or try reinstalling software and do the HDD format. If that fails replace the HDD and install software again.

Now that you mention it, northerntech, I think i had to diagnose this exact problem when the wrong type of lamp was installed (and not bright enough).

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
