Life of drums black in the iRADVC 20/22xx series.

    Hi to everybody !

A simple poll: Drums K in iR ADV C20 / 22xx series can make their life cycle or last a lot less?
I speak of machines installed only and EXCLUSIVELY office (no graphics).

    Thanks !

Depends on how picky the customer is... Most of the times it's on -85 when errors occur.. Sometimes +90
    rarely +100

I agree, rarely see them hit 100% major design fault on this series

Cleaning blades fail inside the drums frequently especilly when doing solid black and it repeats had this from 25% to 70% Rarely do we ever get above 70%

Thats the whole problem with these drum units, they dont have a drum blade! Drum cleaning is done by charge!

So it's actualy some electrical part that fails ? I doubt it, i often see lines on the surface of the rolls...

Black Drums fail quality wise at 68%
Color drums often fail mechanically wise very prematurely and it sounds like a main drive noise.
Fusers and inner finishers are another story
Either than that everything else is great!

I had a custmer that had some urgent printing to be done but k drum unit was leaving lines & background all over the prints. I stripped & cleaned the unit & it ran fine for a couple of days untill the new unit arrived.

Sound familiar but ony works for a couple of prints/days. I even told to do a int.cleaning twice a day, seems to help a bit to..

But that only works if the cleaning doesn't work, if the roll itself is damaged it doesn't...

Most of mine get 100% but not much over that. Some I have to replace just over 50% for offsetting/ghosting.

In my machines rarely the drum K goes over 80 %, ( 70 % it's the medium life). And I'm speaking by installations in office ambient ! ! ! No graphic !

                        HI,
It is very important to update the lastest firmware and the drum life improve a little bit... at the moment it is the only solution that I know..

At this point I will just laugh and say they are unpredictable, sometimes they go at 60%, sometimes I have seen them run to 150% (I just wanted to see how long a black would run for)

I have some 20xx and 22xx and they all og to 100% and more before i change the drum.
Some of them are a bit gray but the custumer dont complain.

The firmware doesn't do a thing .... Canon's latest remedy is a new style ITB and a few changes of settings in SM. Will try one today and see how it goes.
