Canon imageclass mf6550/ e197 error code

When I unplug machine for 5 minutes, the E197 message clears and machine says remove jam from side door area. I pull open and shut and machine resets. When I start copy again ,the E197 comes back. I have seen online much confusion as to what this code actually refers to .Does anyone know what actually causes this error code? THANKS ANDY

What is your subcode i.e what four numbers or letters follow e197.
It is different for different models.
On this model , there is usually bad contact between the fixing frame connectors
you could have a bent pin, or paper stuck in the connector.
if you remove the finisher and left panels, you can watch to see of the connector is contacting the frame connector at an angle.
Worse case, you may have to replace one or both connectors.
