    DF-701 cracked base frame

I have a C284e with a document feeder that the hinge screws have busted out of the plastic, and the feeder now sticks up half an inch in the back. Usually I can fix this with oversize screws, but this one there appears to be nothing left for the screws to dig into. Aside from replacing the feeder entirely, is there some trick that I can try to fix this?

Also, any idea of the best specs for oversize screws for this problem? Mine might just not be big enough.

Ouch! That's a tough one. Not sure what else you can do. That feeder has a lot of movement and pressure from springs otherwise you could build up screw holes with some resin and drill new holes when dry. I don't think it would hold in this situation.

I took a quick look at the similar DF624 and can't see any other way to modify. I'll look closer over the weekend and if any ideas I'll post them.

Don't know if this is the part you're looking for. Here is the part number for this Conveyance Frame Assy section. A3CEPP7400

It's most of a days work shifting everything over, done in-shop. It's probably not something you'll want to do in a customers office, or billable. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I just stripped parts off of a DF701. The stick on guides "deep" inside were torn and PIA to get to. So decided to just take off any good parts. I should still have the frame, it was good with hinges still on it. PM if you still need it and will see if I can find it. Keep in mind it could be costly to ship because of size.

Not to sound like a total jerk but that sounds a lot like customer damage do you actually warranty that customers should pay for a new feeder 100%

Agreed. There is no way that's "normal wear and tear".

I've adjusted the height of the feeder to work around this before. It will not fix the speed the ADF now falls down, but will allow it to run without dog ears/jams.
