The way it reads in the operators guide, the bypass tray can recognize as standard sizes: Statement R, Letter, Letter R, Legal, & Ledger. All other paper sizes are set up as Custom. Custom is from 3.5" x 8.5" to 12" x 18", so there is plenty of room for your COM10 envelope at 4.125" x 9.5". There is an Envelope media type, so clearly they do intend envelopes to pass. Amongst the recommended paper types there is a 6 3/4 envelope (3.6" x 6.5" or 95mm x 165mm).

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I don't have a lot of experience with any of the i-series copiers, but if it's like any of the others, you insert the envelope in the bypass and the screen changes on the copier to allow you to select the paper type, and if need be, the paper size.

I've never had a copier recognize a #10 envelope when set in the Automatic size setting. If it hadn't already been selected previously, you would need to select Standard from the paper size selection, move to the second page in the list of sizes and choose #10 Envelope from the list. From there it will print envelopes all day long, if you desire, though I don't recommend it.

If before it went and now it doesn't ... maybe a customer driver/software problem? What comes out on the display when you try to launch an envelope print?

Have you thought about using the first tray? It too was designed for envelopes.

You could consult the operators manual. I found it informative. =^..^=

I'm finding myself reading users manuals very often, especially for newer models. Search is great function.

You might be barking up the wrong tree:

The main issue I've had with envelopes is not getting the MFP to recognize the paper. The main issue has been the application (either Microsoft Word or Publisher) poorly defining the custom paper size desired.

Were it me, I'd create the file in Publisher, Save, then Save As a PDF. In Option > Print Options you can specifically define your image size, orientation, and paper type. Then when you send the print job from the PDF file, the MFP requests loading XX media to the bypass.

                        Re: Konica Minolta 300i

in the past i create a printer called envelope, default everything to c10\bypass\envelope media type and save.
then on the copier i choose driver priority for bypass tray.
then when doing envelopes just choose the new "envelope" queue.

                        good luck

                        The medication helps though...
