Try 08 instead 80. Those 227 and 230 switches are either 00/08/48/80 in most models. As manual is often wrong about values I sometimes play with them until machine accept value and then check the outcome
            P.S. Happy holidays!

hiding consumable counts doesnt work on 4 series. so the original 227 might not be compatible neither

Here is a bulletin with all the intelligent yield control settings and models it works with. For the B227 it must have G3 or newer firmware, Function version 3.2. On 4/4e models it only works when connected to Vcare.

For C224e series, hiding consumables button works for sure. Just use latest mass production firmware (probably even earlier would work as well) combined with function version 7 DipSW setting.

It's just a subset of the larger set of functions called "Intelligent Yield Control". With Intelligent Yield Control you let the machine to manage it's own consumables, and usually you wish to hide the button so the customer doesn't bother you with misleading (stupid) phone calls.
This is one, and the only function of DipSW 227-80 and DipSW 230-08.

227 10000000 80 Hide consumables statuses function (Hide on the Panel and PSWC)
230 00001000 08 Hide consumables statuses function (Block MIB information of consumables to applications and so on.)

                      @tsbservice
DipSW 227-48 probably can give you "Deleting temporary scan data function" and "The character array of the keyboard is changed from French to Canadian French."
DipSW 230-40 "Prevent sending to wrong destinations inadvertently when broadcast transmission."

the 284e has the toner gauge in the upper right corner, no gas gauge screen except maybe on PSWC.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

                              The documents that I have do not say specifically, but there are 10 possible settings for that switch: 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84.

How brave are you? The worst possible outcome would be ... say, changing the display language to Indonesian, and being unable to reverse it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

He-he I certainly appreciate your thoughts Sir
Reminded me doing firmware update on Brother machine with black touch screen but responsible.
It was interesting, but after uploading successful main firmware it restarted as it should and same for sub firmware. Nevertheless nothing helped but main board .
