Hi all,

Don't laugh but I have a colleague who needs to update the firmware in order to enable the life stop setting but he get this weird message.

Have tried 2 different CF cards using the firmware updater tool gives the same message.

I know it an old box but any ideas!? C550.jpg

You may need to use the firmware imaging toolkit to write the CF card.

For disable life setting in C550 the firmware to use are A00J0Y0-F000-GJ0-F9.exe are you writing this version in the CF?

We are trying to update using the latest mass production firmware A00J0Y0-F000-GB1-R6.exe using the firmware imaging tool kit.

Check to make sure there are no dos partitions on the cards , you may need to use a Linux disk formatting tool.

Could use ISW instead. I use to do that when I forgot my card or card reader

The card can't be any bigger than 256mb.
Use the toolkit to format the card before writing it.

Are the only cards that I know that work for sure.
My files show "C650_A00H0Y0-F000-GS6-R6" for IU reset. I am not sure the latest base FW has the IU bypass integrated, but I think it does.

If you formatted the card, you might as well get brand new card... There are workarounds, but it is complicated and I honestly forget exactly how to do it. The info is somewhere in my old posts around here somewhere... lol
Do you need to the toolkit software?

Worst case scenario, I could send you a pre-loaded card, but you are on the other-side of the pond it seems. Other other worst case scenario is to simply rechip the IUs--let me know if you need help with that.

What firmware updater you are using?????What capacity cards did you use?..... as advised above use 128MB or 256 MB cards

There is a program called HxDen that will write zeros to the whole card returning it to factory fresh with no file system or format.

Thanks all for the help we resolved this issue with a 3rd CF card (128mb)
