Restoring function of a Bizhub C266 in Rwanda

I'm currently a teacher at an International school in Rwanda. Our school has obtained a Bizhub C266 color copier from a local eco-lodge. We're not sure how it got to Rwanda, but it was surely imported, likely from South Africa. I'm one of the few technical staff people at the school and am trying my best to get the printer functional for our use.

The current issues that it has:
    1. It has all of these old settings from the eco-lodge still in it. I'd like to find a way to reset the settings to the default state, but unclear how to do that.
    2. The color prints are faint, though it seems like there is some toner left in the cartridges when I hold them to the light.
    3. For a full A4 page print, I notice a horizontal band of missing color about halfway down the page (assuming portrait orientation).

Is there anything the community here can do to give me pointers on how to troubleshoot these issues? Further, if there are specific parts that are needed to be replaced, what would they likely be and can they be brought back from the States?

    Hi,

Sounds like the device is a good working order.

In side of the front door you should have a grey tool / rod, this is used for cleaning the laser glass, if it is still there use this tool it should get rid of the white line you have.

See video below, enter CE mode & run a gradation adjust this should improve the print quality. Also load some fresh / new packet of paper. Copiers don't like damp humid environments.

Thank you for your help! I tried to enter CE mode, but the default password used in the video is not accepted for my copier. Is there a way I can reset it to all me in?

Double check the device isn't in "Toner Save" mode, "Utility", "User Settings", "Printer Settings", "Basic Settings" then go through the pages. Never assume, that the quality of the print is due to how much toner is in the bottles. On these devices, the toner bottles are empty long before any toner warnings are displayed - it measures the toner in the hopper - not the bottle. Never add toner to improve the print - you wouldn't fill up your petrol tank if your car goes slow.
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

compatible toner for konicas that wont ruin the machine are hard to find.
best to get genuine for a longer machine life.
saving a hundred dollars on toner may cost you a 600 dollar fuser.
