I have a Bizhub 368 that when scanning to SMB, the address is not available at the control panel. I can see the address in the EWS of the unit, and it's set up correctly, but when the user goes to the unit and tries to scan something, only the Email addresses are showing up. Further, when you click on the Address type over to the right, it lists all of the available address types except SMB. Is there a switch somewhere that has been toggled to disable SMB address types availability to the end user? The client has a Bizhub 458 in the office, and I was able to match all of the settings in the EWS related to SMB, and the 458 SMB scan is available and working. Has anyone ever seen this before?

is it scanning by IP or hostname?
what happens when you try to access the folder with another pc on the network using the same credentials?
what happens if you set another one touch destination but using admin credentials?
does the destination have intrusion prevention in any way?
is it only that one destination?
can you ping the destination via IP AND hostname from the copier?
have you set the bit switch to set SMB2 only? i *think* its 219 hex 04?
then set smb and ntlm to v2 in admin mode.
IIRC there was GDB firmware to allow bit sw 219 to work right, i *assume they incorporated the fix in later base FWs?We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

Hello All,
I made the executive decision to pull this machine Bizhub 368 back into our shop and deploy a different unit to get our client up and running. Now that I have some time to devote to this I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. My gut tells me it's just a switch or setting I am missing. I have attached a few pictures and screen grabs to explain the situation. I can access the EWS of the IP of the unit. I can put a valid SMB scan folder in the address book. I just cannot access the SMB destination when scanning. To make this more puzzling, I am using the exact same SMB settings from a known working unit. Any thoughts?Comment

what firmware version? should be gdb-m1 or better for smp2 to work.
when in address book check "all" see if they are there.
when smb addys are setup, you must check the box for "main" to see in favorites.
smb should be locked in at v2.0
honestly seeing the panel with no smb option i would run a data init in service mode, reinstall movie data and pdf data if it says and see if the option for smb scan is there in the menu.We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

I think there is an admin setting for this. You could try exporting all the settings , minus the security setting, from working machine into this machine that might get it working. Next time I'm at an 8 series I'll see if I can find itComment

Thanks for the help so far. I have looked at SW 71 and the current values are Bit Assignment all "0" and Hex Assignment is "00". What should this be changed to make SMB available?

my manual does not show sw 71 at all.
looking at a mgt list 71 is all zeros
in service mode does the HDD show as installed? service, system 2 , hdd
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

can you check the vacant area? service, state confirm, hdd status
if you have access to a working one, do a usb backup of it and import it to this one.
otherwise if it were me id do a network (if not total) data clear and see if smb repopulates the screen.
also, on the addy book page, do you see any listed under "all"? just curiousWe know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

Hide Destination Type strings (eg. E-mail, SMB, FTP) on destination buttons in Scan/Fax Address Book. DipSW No.71 (bit 5)
0x00: Disable (Default)
0x20: Enable
You have 00 the default value.

and, thanks for your response. I was originally in the wrong place. I was looking at the settings for the Software Switches, not the Engine FW DipSW. When I go into the Engine FW DipSW settings, the selections only go up to 56 for the switches I can access. Is there another page I am not seeing in the Enhanced Security settings to get to DipSW 71? The machine is a Bizhub 368. When I look at a 458 machine that has SMB available, it goes up to 70. But, in both cases I cannot change any settings, only highlight or not. Can you help me get to the right place?Comment
