    HDD lock

Client has an older Bizhub 364 bw unit. Hdd does and we swapped it. Let us do a physical format and won’t let us do logical now. Says needs hard drive lock password when it boots up. I know this was posted somewhere here but since they changed the site there is no longer a search button😩

when it boots up go right in admin mode, you will be asked to format the hdd or enter the password.
    just choose format.
    its pretty quick

Thanks. Doesn’t give me that choice and in rep mode only lets me do a physical not a logical format. Very odd

check out the HDD available space in state confirm.
        should show like 170Gb vacant.
honestly id take the HDD to my PC and wipe all partitions off it till its all RAW then create 1 partition but do not format it.
when installed back in copier make sure it shows as installed, then you may be able to do a logical format. the machine will add partitions automatically.

you said rep mode, what does it say when you enter admin mode?

Does it want you to enter what the current one is supposed to be?

If it wants you to enter it twice, it sounds like it wants you to create a new one. Just enter the serial number of the copier. You might need to pad it with some zeros if it's not long enough. Make sure you make note of it for any future issues. Something must be turned on in the copier that is enabling hard drive encryption or some other type of security. Bizhub Secure perhaps?

That’s what I was thinking, but it never had it turned on before and there’s no way to turn it off because you can’t get into admin mode and I tried to trick with a serial number and that didn’t work either
              This is a head scratcher

Perhaps this would work. It appears that lock passwords need to be 20 characters long based on this bulletin. It also sounds like if you set it, you should be able to go back in to the area it describes and disable it all together?

                Set a storage lock password
How to set a storage lock password?
Storage Lock Password can be set using the following:
                1. Press [Utility] -> [Utility]
                2. Press [storage management] -> [storage lock password]
                3. Enter the password for lock (single-byte 20 characters, case-sensitive)

                Notes:
                1. Please note that it cannot be set if it is less than 20 characters.
                2. If a password is already set, you can change or cancel it.

Ok, added 7 zero’s in front of serial number then it worked and had me format in admin mode. All working now! Thanks all!
