C554 "Serial himber must be entered ocntact service provider"

I have a client with a C554 who states that it was 'unplugged for several days' while they had new carpet installed in their office.

When they powered it on, it shows the message:
"Serial number must be entered, contact service provider"

It won't let me in service mode, and I tried a reset, but no luck.

From searching the forum it looks like an initialization and firmware update should correct the problem.... is that correct?

    Thanks for any help!

    not even an "e" model?
    the battery is dead.
its also discontinued i believe so its time for an upgrade.
if you want to try and change the battery good luck.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

You could try updating the firmware, noting to loose.

Yeah, I was going to give that a shot, along with replacing the battery.

On that note.... Anyone know where it is?? And the part #?

            Thanks 😉

I got mine from digikey. I can get you the part #if you're not able to find it.

I'd appreciate that, One Stop doesn't have the C554 manual any longer...

                UPDATE:
                It IS a C554e

I have had many of these. The battery is dead an ALL data is gone, so you have to resolder a new battery to the MFPB AND put in new SSD board. Then it needs 96-layer bootrom, firmware unpacking-setup ect. Unless you are a KM tech I would not advise you to attempt yourself though.
