    PC-417 Slicing Paper

    Hello all,
This one has stumped me. Tray 3 of a PC-417 is slicing paper. I caught it in action and it was cut before the horizontal movement section.

    Do you have a photo?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Really silly question - have you taken the paper out of the tray and examined it,I had a problem once, where from only 1 tray, they were complaining that print had a "cyan haze" across it. Discovered this tray was where they had there headed paper, their heading was cyan - the printers had given them a very bad batch of printed headed paper - it wasn't the machine
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

I've had flawed paper do that before. It is awfully strange how your paper is ripping though.

              Current troubleshooting steps:
              1. Check to make sure paper is goood - all xerox vitality paper.
              2. Remove tray 3 paper feed assy upper and deburr material.

Currently paper is jamming in the fuser and asking if it's the right size.
I haven't tried different size paper because I don't have a4 on hand and I don't know how you would load anything else in a 417 without jamming it.

Along these lines, I've had customers tell me about wrinkles, rips, discolorations, even random printed images on the second side of the paper when printing simplex. All these situations originated in the paper tray with damaged or pre-printed paper. The cut looks way too clean to have been done by the machine. The copier would have produced a ragged tear. If you cannot reproduce the problem, I would take a ream of paper, run it all, then shrug. Eventually somebody will open a new ream of paper and the top sheet will be cut. " ... hmmmm! I wonder if it's the paper??" =^..^=

I'm assuming, that if the machine is cutting the paper, the missing part of the page is in the machine somewhere....if it's not, then it's definitely not the machine
