Using FWSelect to update Firmware

Im working on a C361i and trying to use the feature to have several fw on a USB drive. I have access to kmbs and viewed their video and done exactly what they have and it will not work.

so their training says I have to have the FW0020 folded in the root and well as the FWSelect folder in the root, the FWSelect folder can have multiple folders in it, named whatever with the each fw folder in each one of those, My machine will not show the other fw when pressing the fwselect data button. it comes up in the fw mode just wont see the fwselect folder.

Looking for someone who may do this on a regular basis. I have several 0i series in the field I get tired of all the time it takes to move files around.

If you only want one firmware for each machine there is no need for the FWSelect folder. You can have multiple models of firmware on the same stick. example you can have FW0020 , FW0021 and even 8 series firmware folders such as FW0012 on the root of the USB. The machine you are updating only looks inside of the folder that it needs.
the FWSelect Folder is only needed if you want multiple firmware levels of the same model on the stick. Then inside the FWSelect folder you would put all the firmware levels for that model inside of that folder

yeah, Im trying to speed dup the process for one machine for example I have 0i series out in the field and I will come across them with fw like B5, not even listed on kmbs, so that's like 20-30 fw back. If I can get the FWselect feature to work then Id be able to have one flash drive and away I can go on moving the machine into the 2024 year of fw.

For the record, I've never tried this with the IT5 machines.... I did have it working on a 4e at one point but that predates the FW folders. Also, FYI, FWSelect is only for having multiple firmware versions for the same model. For multiple models of machines, just place all the FW folders in the root.

That being said, the only restriction listed in the service manual for the folder names is "one byte alphanumeric characters, maximum 40 characters". Do all the folders in the FWSelect folder meet that criteria?

FWSelect will not filter the results per machine. It will show all firmwares for EVERYTHING in the folder. Be careful not to write the wrong firmware to the wrong device.
