Is there a default setup for the app icons on the control panel? And if so, how is that accomplished?
    You probably want "classic style".

Hit: Utility -> Admin -> System Settings -> Def. operation mode set. Change that to "Classic Style".

Ditto what Duplicator said. Plus after FW update machine should not change anything in this manner.

Yeah, the firmware update wouldn't affect that, and the initialization clears out any non-standard apps in 'basic' mode.

The thing is that is leave a bunch of gaps with 2 or 3 icons per page and spread out over 3 or 4 pages. Is there a way to at least get them to consolidate on one page other than doing the 'customize' thing on the panel?

Main menu default settings - in admin mode system settings.
I recommend you using user manuals it's there and I use them often they're so many settings buried in menus.

yeah...i DID reference the User's Guide before I asked such a basic question

And the only thing that admin_system settings_Default operation mode setting. does is allow you to set the default control panel type to either classic or basic.

I'm just looking for an easier way to clean up the icons in basic.

I'll be honest....I'm not familiar with that since...the first thing I do with every machine is set it to classic. It's what our techs and customers know.

I remember something about a pencil on the screen or a gear that let you modify it but my memory on that is too fuzzy to get you better information. At any rate, yes the defaults have icons randomly thrown everywhere on the screens.

Basic is basic for a reason. Never played with it.

                      Hello,

I need to update some C250i with old firmware (G00-D0, G00-E9...) to latest. Work fine with old firmware (200k-300k counter) but now client want TLS 1.3 and I understand that is included on newer firmware. Are those step below ok to avoid problems with cpu board? any sugestion?

1 – INSTALL G00-J9 firmware and BOOT ROM
                      2 – INSTALL G00-RE mass production firmware
3 – INSTALL power control CPU2 (LPPP) and MFP controller boot program FW
                      4 – INSTALL GC3-RE special program for switch 187 hex40
                      5 - INSTALL G00-RF mass production

                      Thanks.

I'd suggest searching firmware threads or starting a new one specific to your question

There's a little combo house/gear icon on the basic screen, bottom left. Tap that then login with admin password. Then you can move / add / delete icons on the Basic screen.

Dipswitch 187 hex 18 and dipswitch 188 hex 04 will really help with colors, especially reds. Before changing these switches print out the bird demo page, change switches, run gradation and then print out the bird demo page again, you'll see quite a difference in red.
