C658 c-3102 error, fuser drive assembly?

    its possible to replace the shaft and bushings without removing the drive unit.

    It's been a hot minute but if I remember correctly,,, First indicator is noise. As allan mentioned, the shaft will wear through the bushing on the drive side and sometimes even start wearing into the plate of the drive assemble A79K255600. If the clutches are really dirty we usually replace them at the same time, might as well since you've taken it apart this far.

    Pretty much all of our 8 series needed to have their fuser drives replaced at 1 million, we kept a couple rebuilt fuser drives in stock and swapped out as needed.

    The guy who did my initial training on copier repair swears by DeoxIT as a cure all:

    I just use plastic safe contact cleaning spray with the pipe attached. Water will condense inside it, make sure to get it dry as quick as possible. I do this as a preventative measure on clutches around the 400K mark.

    always wanted to try spraying white vinegar in the rusty clutch and follow with IPA after 60 min.
    the vinegar eats rust like a demon and would likely give the clutch plates new life but i didnt want anyones office to smell like a Salad-Hut.
