    Timing issue on FS-539

I'm having a frequent jam (and constant paper buckling noise) that is really difficult to describe. When a stack of paper is being ejected to the exit tray, the first page of the next set is held back (buffering) so as not to interfere with the ejecting paper. This page is supposed to exit to the alignment section along with the second page of that set. This second page is where the problem occurs. The paper is buckling in the middle, and sometimes jamming as it folds over on itself in the middle. The leading edge is undamaged. When it jams, the code is J-7217, which appears to actually be referring to the next page behind the jam.

It appears that the receiving rolls aren't turning on at the right time (or at all in the case of a jam) but the finisher entrance rolls are continuing to push the paper forward. After the jam, I'm able to manually turn the rolls and the paper moves fine. I've already replaced the finisher control board, with no change. Any idea what this could be?

      It's already at G00-RE.

GG3-Re was released Jan 2025. Can be found under special firmware. Plus its always a good idea to reload or update firmware just to rule it out

Unfortunately, the copier is in a secure area, and no electronics - including USB drives - are allowed.

I have had one in a secure military area and was able to have them scan the usb and they then allowed me to use it to update firmware as long as I disconnected the network cable before putting usb in machine. Hopefully they will let you do that. if not the only options you have is to have machine moved out of area to work on ,bring it to your shop or bring finisher to your shop.

The point being, if I have to go to all that trouble to update the firmware, is there a specific reason updating the firmware might solve this problem?

I have had firmware fix timing/jamming issues in the past. It is no guarantee that it will fix your problem and without being there its hard to say exactly what your problem could be. I did do a search on KM knowledge base but there was no hit for this code on a FS-539. What kind of machine is the finisher on?

I had a look at the develop KIKU site and I cant find any information on that specific problem with that specific finisher but there are similar jam issues with production machine finishers and they are all related to the paper exit solenoid. this may not be exactly your problem but it might help point you in the right direction?
I've attached some of the points that may be relevant. hope this helps.
