    BH-C-284e, my first rusty CL8

    Wow, I hoped since the dreaded BH-C-353 rusty clutch issue I never had to work in that part of the newer generations color machines another time, but KonicaMinolta is doing it again. Saving half a buck on the quality of their clutches. Now I have my first rusty CL8 in a BH-C-284e.

    Seem to remember there was a shortcut too to take that piece of crap out. Can I just take the shaft alone out to remove that clutch instead of the whole drive unit?
    Anyone willing to PM me that, please?

      Yes you can remove the shaft with the drive unit while its in the machine.

      There is a plastic wiring guide and a fan shroud plus housing in the way from the back to get to the shaft end from the rear. There is a C-clip and a bushing leave those, I think the whole shaft pulls out to this side. Then the connector. Inside its a C-clips a gear and a bushing.

      If you don't use a magnetic screwdriver you will drop the C-clip. If you use a magnetic screwdriver the C-clip will shoot away. If you get past that you will forget were you put the C-clip...
      25min plus 5min swearing at a C-clip. Job done.

              Somebody once here in the panel told me for that part not to use the word "Jezus-Clip" anymore........

                      Curious - no one mentions the number 1 cause of failure of this clutch.

                      Check the grey fusing exit roller shaft turns freely in the right side door - they frequently seize up making this clutches life very hard - it already has to drive way too much, it doesn't need another excuse to slip and shorten its life.

                      If it feels "ok" test it after largish print job. It's not uncommon to be "ok" at idle and seize up in use too.

                      I lubricate the bushings at every visit, unless a near new machine.
