    Bizhub 4050i Making a loud noise

    Well this is a strange one for me. The noise is coming from the fusing area. I replaced the fusing unit and the drive assembly. Still making the noise. I saw that the exit assembly is also driven by the fusing drive, but the noise is happening even when the exit drive is not engaged. Was thinking the next step would be to change the exit but I'm having doubts because the noise is happening regardless of whether or not the exit is engaged.


    Anyone ever have something like this come up on these machines before? I have a terrible track record with these style machines.

      id consider the ITBU. i had a customer complain about a noise that never occured when a tech would visit so i gave in and replaced the ITBU. havent heard a complaint since

          Thank you for the suggestion, but it's not coming from the transfer belt it is definitely coming from the fuser drive. I verified this both by operating the machine with the panels off so I could watch through the crack in the back of the machine as well as jimmying the door and running tests in service mode

              If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                  Thank you for this, I have one question. Will this cause noise to happen when the fusing unit is rotating but the exit is not engaged?

                      IIRC exit unit and fuser run off the same motor ... both running at the same time regardless. =^..^=
                      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                          The fusing drive has 1 motor, 1 solenoid, and two clutches. The solenoid operates the gate for duplex, and the two clutches engage for the exit and the duplex
