Why are you replacing the HDD? Are you having trouble?

I never heard of replacing the HDD with a SSD on a 4 series. Not sure if it can be done? Perhaps someone else can be more specific with this.

I can provide the firmware you need once you get an answer about using an SSD. PM me with your email address.

If you are talking about replacing the HDD with an SSD, I'd HIGHLY advise against it. The copier firmware was never designed for this, so if it even works at all, the SSD will not last very long.

The copier has no knowledge of how to perform the TRIM command on the SSD, which is essential in order to keep the SSD properly cleared and prevent excessive over-writing of the NAND flash memory. Without the TRIM operation, the SSD will continuously be moving chunks of data around that it doesn't need to, which will wear out and cause the flash memory chips to fail within a much shorter time than they would if the SSD was installed into a system that knew how to deal with an SSD properly.

i sent him a PM, the phrase SSD can mean 2 things, i always think ssd is a solid state harddrive to replace a spinning disk drive.
some folks call the eeprom/nvram an ssd as well.
if anyone wants to waste money tossing an SSD drive into a 10 year old machine good luck, not my money.
it will also likely never run TRIM so i dont see the benefits really. 360Gb hdds are 14.00!! Western Digital WD3200BVVT 320GB 8MB Cache 5400RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive (For PS3, PS4 & Laptop) - w/ 1 Year Warranty

you could buy 5+ for the cost of 1 SSD drive.

[edit] LOL you guys posted faster than i was typing a reply haha
