    I'll have to dig some more in order to verify, as that is the file we have saved for both the Color and B&W 7-series. There is an exception with the B&W in that the reset tool does not work on the early (pre-revision) version of the B&W 7-series.

    EDIT: After doing some more research, that reset tool is the correct one. How old is the firmware on the machine you are trying to run it on? The ability to use the rest tool was added via a later firmware version, and I believe it also required an update to the Boot ROM. I'm not sure at the moment which revision of the firmware or BootROM it needs to be on to enable the ability to use the reset tool, but I'll update again if I find it. Just to add to the previous bit above, the pre-revision B&W models can not be updated in any form to give them the ability to boot to the reset tool.
    The boot rom "A7AH0Y0-1E00-G00-01" is missing the ability to run the reset tool. It's just simply not there if you open a dump of it with a hex editor. It checks for the other reset tool that just does an initialize all but not the one that blanks both EEPROMs.

    You can swap a "gen 2" board into a "gen 1" 227/287/387 to add that functionality. All color machines appear to start at "gen 2"

    Although if the machine boots none of these "reset files" should be needed. They are a last resort for when the NVRAM, it's backup, and the settings files are totally goofed up to the point of no return.

      Both last 2 replies are excellent. I had past experience with early bh287 and C258 with boot ROM 01 and they won't take reset tool.

        Resurrecting this old thread, I'm curious how techsxge went with modding the firmware?

        I've noticed that the sometimes the @VER in the reset file is missing an equals sign. Does anyone know why?
        Is there any documentation for the @ prefixes?
        Looks like they're using buildroot and busybox in there to make the firmware.

        I noticed jotunn 's list didn't include the C458 which has:
        @TYP=ZS_ZX0_PF
        @IT4=3
        @SEC=2

        Is the @TYP attributable to the motherboard/processor compatibility, or do we think it's still anchored to the project name.
        I'm wondering if after the reset tool a C458 could be spoofed to be a C759 given that most of the hardware seems the same.

        Also, curious if there is any way to determine the processor specs that are always conspicuously missing from the documentation. Tempted to pull her apart again to see what's on the chip.

        I've used the FTP capture function to get logs, but I wonder if the firmware could be modded to support root SSH?

          Jotunn is right about the models. The gods set the models.

          I've had some models that the devil set the models.......

            Both - and it seems to be used during compilation - to compile "universal" sources for specific platform.

            No.

            It depends on generation - for 8-series it was:
            MB86S73 with 2 ARM Cortex A7 Cores
            MB86S72 with 2 ARM Cortex A15 cores + 2 ARM Cortex A7 cores.

            There is SSHd in the system, but it's disabled (not configured, and not added to startup scripts) - and must be disabled because of the nature of this system.

              To add to that, they are 32 bit until you get to the "i" series copiers. Those are 64 bit ARM.
