    color registration error c654

    IMG-20230503-WA0026.jpgWe have repeatedly had this same failure, in different c654 machines, without a solution...We have followed the normal course, of discarding, with another machine without problem, exchanging parts (transfer / band unit, development units, fusion unit, the side door, registration sensor bar, laser) without a conclusive affirmative result.
    The error appears progressive and random, beginning with a mismatch of colors on heavy paper, and after a few months, even appearing on bond 20.
    What else would they try? (firmware would be an option)

      You should try newer firmware if it is very old version.
      I think i remember bulletin about registration problem long time ago on 4 series and fw solves that.
      What is machine counter and current fw ?

          Assuming you did all adjustments like gradation, etc? You wrote it happens on regular paper after running heavy paper, perhaps the key lies there with fusing? But as other poster mentioned start with F/W upgrade, upgrade to Ver up FW function ver. 7. This will make C654 into an "E" machine.

                  G00-K7 is firmware from 10/2015 for a C654e.

                  Are you working on a C654 or C654e? There is a difference between the two.

                          Now...after updating the firmware, I saw the P14 warning, I did the Skew adjustment routine, the P14 disappeared, but now P31(Encoder sensor malfunction) appears, I try to do [Sensor Check], I try without success, it says: Close the lower front door and start [Stabilizer], but how will I stabilize if I'm on the [Sensor Check] screen, or is just closing the door enough? my values ​​never change, I tried to clean them with duster, apparently I was not the solution, the P31 persists!

                          What else can I do?

                              Have you tried to replace them? I've never dealt with the encoder sensors on the drive gear, but they don't look very easy to get at or fun to swap out based on the parts book.
                              A Ricoh Service Tech for 7 year. A Konica Minolta Service Tech for 7 years. Now, KM service manager for 4 years.
                              My Ricoh knowledge is slowly dwindling away at this point. Many things have been lost to time...

                                  I will try first in a parts machine, see the best way to disassemble it, because if it looks delicate!
