    C284 firmware error

    Hi Folks,
I have a bizhub c284 that I'm trying to update the firmware and have run into a snag.
The current is Version 5 A1610Y0-F000-G00-72(00). I'm trying to get to Version 7 GR7-M0.
The release notes for GR7 state that it requires G20-K8 to update.

I tried the G20-K8 intermediate and got an error message, so I tried going straight to GR7-M0 with the following results:
MFP CONTROLLER - download N.G.3 (last time I tried)
ADF(DF-M) Download Completed. Check Sum 3904
SCANNER Download Completed. Check Sum 969C
    PRINTER Download Completed.

I tried loading GR7 again selecting only the MFP CONTROLLER and got the same error.

The machine will now load all 5 pillars, but will not boot.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!!

Try updating the SSD there is a speartate file for this it is v.6.03. Then update with the latest firmware.

I update the 4 series non e with the GB3-M0 and I think it brings the update of the SSD to 6.03 included

I did a C284 search in One Stop and didn't get a hit on GB3-M0 under either Base Firmware or Special Firmware

Do you have an "e" or non-e model? I believe the special SSD firmware update only applied to the xx4e models.

This one is a non-e C284, as in the description

Try it with HDD disconnected and select only MFP as you already tried. And maybe try another FW version.
If no go, I personally wouldn't hesitate to use reset tool as you already have a brick.

OK, Apparently this was a reading comprehension test... The G20-K8 that I tried to install on my NON e C284 is the intermediate step for C224e, C284e, C364e models...D'OH!

OK...Update (for those who are interested)
I reloaded G00-72 (the version it had initially) on the MFP only and it booted normally.
Then I tried reloading GR7-M0. Again the printer, scanner and ADF took, but the MFP was NG.
On reboot, it gets to the 5th pillar and throws and this error:

                      Error.

                      This is invalid External Memory.

Please make sure the External Memory.

I suspected, but it's surprising how many times people forget to add the trailing the letter on the model, which leads others to provide inaccurate or incompatible advice.
As I stated earlier, I'm 99% sure the SSD firmware only applied to the xx4e-models. I can easily find the SSD Tool for the C284e, but nothing under the C284.

I was able to get it working with the firmware version it had to begin with - G00-72
I ran an initialization, reinstalled the hard drive and doing a physical format now

Looking through the KM website, it seems like they have removed all the in between versions of firmware for the C284, with only the initial release (G00-72) and a couple of the more recent Gxx-M0 versions available.

I looked through our server and we have saved copies of GA2-K6 and GB0-K8, then a couple versions of M0. If you are interested in trying either of those 2 older versions as an in between upgrade to see if that works for you, I can try and figure out a way to get them to you.

Roll it back to G00-72, then first load GB0-A9 version up firmware, then proceed with GR7-M0. Make sure to read the GB0-A9 firmware pdf, there are important steps to follow. Warning, the last time i did this it wiped the machine, counters were zeroed out, but it did the recovery and all settings came back. I did have to set the IP address again as well.
