What was the problem that you have to change CPU, before you change it print quality was good or it was the same as your posting.

The customer reported that first a bad picture, then an error code E002
And the printer didn't turn on anymore

Ok but the print quality was good before that happens, if it was good, then maybe the CPU is bad so you need to try another CPU, that happened to me in a 300i, after I tried with another CPU it was all back to normal.

from looking at the image you've attached, you need to change the 3 colour drums. what's the colour count on the machine?

Look again the defects are digital in nature. Looks like the laser data is slightly corrupt or the laser cable is wonky.
I would look at ribbon cables.

I had a C360i with a similar symptom but it was black instead of colours. In my case replacing the Print Head (Laser) Unit was the solution. A bit difficult to tell from the sample due to scan distortion but do the lines extend to the edge of the page? Mine did. I would try reseating the Print Head connectors first.

Also check the HV voltages and try another set of C/M/Y drums - I think I've seen this before and we also went down the laser path since the image error looks kind of "digital" but we were wrong in our case.

I've seen this effect on C458 when the laser gets dirty from operating in a dirty environment. Pulling the laser unit out and opening it up, cleaning the mirrors, lenses, and poligonal mirrors always resolved it for me.

I'm thinking CPU board, either reseat or replace.
Had some really weird issues replacing to CPU board failures.

We have had some 'fuzzy' quality issues from replacing the drum unit chips just to bare in mind

This is exactly what it was all about. New drums from the transport-damaged device and the picture is bad. And before this the device was mute and had to change the cpu assy

Drums from transport damaged device won't reset drum counters even they are never used. You will need new drum chips for machine to recognise them as brand new and makes automatic adjustments accordingly.

                              Yes it is.

It's a shame that Konica prevents the use of used drums. It would be good if you could reset the drum counter in the same way as the toner bottles, belts and fusing units.
