Re: remember when...
Sigh ๐ฅ I remember.
A lot of my technician mindset is coming from smarka "helping each other" is what I will never forget.
Thanks brother for bringing memories.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused. -
Re: remember when...
Yes I also remember those good old Smarka days. It was a great site ran by Andrea & Mark. There were a few other sites (Copier Talk, Techs Connected) that spun off from Smarka but they also are gone now. Only one left is CTN.Comment

Re: remember when...
i remember Intrevia guides on very colorful construction paper so you couldnt copy them (until background removal was invented)
Jim used to post there. We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

Re: remember when...
Don't forget DNet, Copier Talk, and United Techs Online!
The forums have been the best professional resource that I've every had.
We need to keep this last one alive and well. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: remember when...
Was Dnet for Kyocera's? I found that site very helpful especially for the Zeus series 50 to 80ppm (5000i to 8000i).Comment

Re: remember when...
I thought is was so cool to go on the web, back in the early 90's and get technical help from around the globe. I used Smarka for a while but found Copytechnet and preferred using it. I started to use Smarka again towards the end of it's inception.
When did Copytechnet come into existence? Early to mid 90's as well? I believe this is the only site of its kind left in existence, I know a few of the Smarka guys tried there own websites for a bit, but I don't know if they are still around, I think his name was Desert Rat or something like that.
Man this page brings back some memories, the good old days of analog copiers. The damn things were broke more then they were running or at least it seemed that way. I started to view the Sharp copier tips https://web.archive.org/web/20040612...rs/adframe.htmComment

Welcome to CopyTechNet.com, A place where Copier, Printer, and Fax technicians can come to share ideas and exchange information. Anyone who has been on the service side of the copier business knows how difficult it can be when you out there all alone trying to figure out that problem you have never seen before. And to make matters worse, the copier gods throw in the screaming CPA during tax season, or the lawyer with "the most important trial ever", or the guy with a machine so old it takes a roll of paper.
This discusion board was started by a couple guys that were interested in what "could be" available on-line for our industry As time goes by, we hope this site can grow and become a valuable resource to office equipment technicians everywhere.
We have too many years to count in this business. We have been the new tech, the senior tech, and the service manager at big and small dealerships. Our goal here is to create a site that can be a valuable resource for all, a place for the newbee to get help and the place for the advanced technician to prove how good he really is. We have access to a few OEM technical sites and we will research information there whenever possible to help answer questions in the forum section.
This site is still evolving, so please be patient. If you have any ideas or comments, please drop us an email at admin@copytechnet.com and we will incorporate them if possible. We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
