Konica Minolta C284e will not read from front USB or add Movie Data

I have a KM C284e that I have turned all the front USB settings to read and scan to in Admin settings mode.

Although the USB port flashes the Thumb drive light, it wont recognize anything. Also when trying to add the movie data the USB says NG.

It is a 2G Thumb drive and I have tried plugging it into another unit and the drive reads on the screen when installed.

Is there anywhere else that turns the usb port on. Also someone said to upgrade the firmware which fails also from the Upgrade port for this also.

Does anyone know if you have to update the firmware incrementally or will it update over several versions due to this unit has not had any firmware update lately. The unit also says its a function version 2.

Any help getting this USB Port to read is appreciated.

See below youtube video to check USB print I scan is is enabled.

Update the firmware with the latest available (currently GDU-M1)

Next set SW 25 to HEX 60 this will enable function version 7.

Now you can install the movie animation file with the latest version.

also make sure the cable is plugged into the "front usb" port on the side.

thought it was 8 series for some reason.
yeah the 4 series has its own service usb port under a sliding cover.
the front usb is still for loading ldd drivers and movie data but firmware is strictly in the back in the service port.

Make sure the usb cable is plugged into the correct port labeled Front USB.
Have seen the cable unplugged, or plugged into the wrong spot.
The plug is located on the right rear of the copier just below where the network cable comes in.

We tried another version of FW that failed would you be able to refer me to to a copy of this firmware you stated to use?

Does the FW upgrade allow you to reset the version after the firmware update, I tried it in advance but it won't hold.

Would the unit try to read anything if it was not the proper FW because I never got it to be recognized on power up when it was in the Firmware upgrade slot with older versions of FW. We tried the G20-M1 and the GDB-M1 with no luck its all we had available for this unit.

I am plugged into the proper usb slot in front.
The cable goes to USB 1 in the controller.

To start with front usb port isn't the right one for firmware update on this device. Also those models are picky about flash thumbs so I would try another one working on other machines.

Thanks tsbservice, I have 2 problems and the original one is my usb front port does not read. He suggested upgrading the firmware but my firmware port does not read or see anything when plugged in.

If you have ideas or can help me with the version firmware he mentioned let me know.

Remove back cover and check sensor sensing usb port for fw update. It's optron and sometimes can be left unplugged after one doing job arrond HDD.

thought it was an 8 series like a few of us here at first but if you are using the front usb for firmware it will never ever ever work.

Maybe it's a silly question but is the usb formatted in Fat32?

E series movie data

The file must be A5C10Y0-C000-XX (30 would be with later firmware)
File must unzipped and on the root of the drive
SM says USB port, so it does not go in the rear USB firmware slot (If you open this port the machine tries to boot from the USB and can't). Should work from the front port
File is added via service mode/System2/Install Data/Movie
Machine must have a HDD
USB will not be recognized if it's partitioned or a PC sees it as multiple drives.

I have like 10 USB drives and only 3 of them work on the Konicas. For some reason I find that Konicas like a particular type of USB drive. Try other drives. Konica even used to have a bulletin about a particular thumb drive they recommend.
