    Bizhub C227 Squealing on Duplex

    Hey there,
I am a rather new technician for Konica Minolta and I am working on a c227 that is squealing really badly right when the paper is sucked in for the duplex loop. I tried running a motor check but when I checked the motor it seemed to sound alright. Should I just replace the duplex unit? Could the belt be making the noise? What are your thoughts?

It sucked when it comes to 'sound'

If you have extra duplex unit then my suggestion is just test the new duplex unit and see whether it solve the problem.

Would start with cleaning and lubricating the duplex section. If anything the belt would slip leading to a jam or a jumping sound. More then likely it is just the dirty and just needs some good TLC.

If by "sucked in for the duplex loop" you mean when the paper is in the exit/reversal unit and it reverses feed to go into the duplex unit, pull the exit/reversal unit out and clean it. When you do that, look at the white idler rollers and clean the insides of them, they will start to wear into the shaft they ride on. I clean them with a qtip an alcohol. When you put them back on their shaft, flip the shaft so the idler rollers aren't continuing to wear on the same spots.

If it's happening while the paper is in the duplex, same thing, pull it off and clean the white idler rollers.

It's like that on this model. You can update firmware for good measure or tell them to buy a proper A3 colour machine like C258 if they insist on reversing noise. Btw at what FW version is machine?

Re: Bizhub C227 Squealing on Duplex

To minimize the generated noise, a special firmware GGD-84 was developed to reduce the switch back speed to
improve the generated noise in duplex mode.
As a side effect the duplex performance is reduced to 75% of standard performance. With updating the device to
GGD-84 the duplex performance is automatically reduced and cannot be adjusted.
Due to the above mentioned facts we will provide this firmware on demand because it is recommended to just use
this firmware for customers who claim the noise in duplex mode.
To compare the noise differences in duplex mode between standard firmware, special firmware GGD-84 and
competitors, please refer to the following data attached to this TNI:
             C287 series_Evaluation result for switch-back noise
             Sound data_Evaluation result for switch-back noise
