Default VOIP settings button missing on Bizhub C458

I'm trying this for the first time, so I may be doing something wrong.
There is supposed to be a VOIP Settings option in the administrator settings menu that will enable all of the recommended fax settings for VOIP.
I followed the instructions in bulletin #8319, but am not having any luck.
I have updated firmware to latest and have enabled Bit 5 of dip sw 237, but when I go to admin mode, fax settings, line parameter settings, there is no VOIP settings button.
Any help would be much appreciated!

because VOIP is STUPIDASFUCK for a fax line.
fuck any customer that wont pay 10 dollars for an analog line.
its VOICE over IP not FOIP.
only thing that ever worked sometimes is manually dialing out once you hear the dial tone.
no konica uses a VOIP perfectly.
they need to buy a digital to analog card for their phone system with a dedicated fax #
jumper lines are useless. its a much less painful procedure to circumcise yourself than setup FOIP.
fuck that customer and their cheap ass ways.

not that i have an extremely strong opinion on this or anything....

sorry if ive offended anyone, this has been a touchy subject since VIOP started and konica tries bandaids on a broken arms..
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

VoIP and fax mix about as well as oil and water. They are incompatible with each other. Most VoIP (well around us anyway) use PCM encoding. The sample rate of PCM is not going to allow fax to work on its own.

      Your customer has 4 options:
      1. Turn on VoIP settings on the Bizhub with the standard VoIP line. This will cause it to error less but have random intermittent failures that have nothing to do with the copier. It will fail at random and there is nothing anyone can do to make it better. It is likely they will blame you or the machine for the failures even though it's just the fact they are using VoIP for fax.
      2. Get a regular old school POTS telephone line. In my area the phone company can charge hundreds of dollars for these. However, it's the best option from a technical standpoint. Some cable companies also have telephone lines. These may be VoIP in the back end in some cases. Beware!
      3. Get the VoIP provider to support T.38. To make this work the Konica must have the VoIP line setting off and it must be allowed to run in Super G3 mode. No Super G3 = no T.38. We have T.38 working with our Konicas at our offices and it works great. However, this is not a trivial thing to setup since it requires an ATA, PBX, and SIP provider to all support T.38. Any network problems or latency and bye bye T.38.
      4. Get the VoIP provider to provide a fax gateway. These are basically little fax machines that connect to the Konica. They receive the fax and then transfer it via their own network. Leave the VoIP line setting off for this since the little box is now a fax machine. Beware however, if this box fails to send a fax they are going to call YOU for support. You will need to keep redirecting them for each fax issues to the company providing the fax gateway.

At the end of the day, this is really the end of faxes. As the telephone company gets rid of real POTS lines and VoIP is placed everywhere, your customer or their recipient is likely to have VoIP. Where we can we teach/convince the user to enable password protected PDFs and push them towards that since it's a longer term solution.

If I helped you out, please give me a thumbs up! It helps my reputation.

Yeah, all those settings are only there to make it look to the customer that you are trying to make it work. VOIP sucks ass for fax.
Tell them to get out of the 90's.

I've had to do this on a handful of machines, haven't come across the option not being there. Switch 237 should look like this:

          Switch No: 237
          Bit Assignment: 00100000

Or just do Switch 237 HEX 20 and the correct Bit will change automatically.

I wish KM would make their bulletins easier to understand by simply listing the switch # and hex # instead of bothering with bits.

Thank you KMFLT3CH! I had the dip sw setting off by one space because I didn't know which one was bit 5. How do you know which bit is which?
Like you said, usually they just tell you what hex number to use or give you the Bit Assignment.

Bit assignment from left to right:

              76543210
00100000 (for your question about enabling the VOIP setting)

It actually begins at zero and from the right, if you are counting up.

How do you really feel about VOIP? Don't beat around the bush here..lol I feel your pain, especially with sales reps that only exacerbate the issue by telling the customer they will get it fixed. Never mentioning that they should not have sold the fax in the 1st place. I have a suggestion for anyone facing this..Have them buy the marketplace interfax App, and then tell them they should get with their rep to do all the paper work necessary to do a credit/rebill. Once a rep has to go through this a few times, they may actually ask a question before just blanket selling.

... a dedicated analog fax line can cost between $33.00 gov't rate to approx $72.00 per month business rate.

when i first got comcast internet and tv, adding a landline was 9.95 extra. the new modem had an rj11 port
that's what i meant. i know businesses pay more for stuff but if you are paying a VOIP company several hundred dollars to manage your phone system
you should be able to add a digital to analog card in the main phone box which shouldnt cost much if anything if they want to keep you happy.

After years of problems, our sales reps finally got it beat into their heads that this needed to be handled on their end. Now if we can only get them to figure out that 2 copiers can't run off the same power outlet.
