Bizhub 500 , jams in one direction

The customer had called before and said they had a problem with it jamming when duplexing. I never could repeat the problem. Well now I can. The machine can make 1 or 2 duplex copies at a time. If you go for 3, it jams if the paper is in portrait. In landscape, it works fine. When it jams, there is the first sheet in the duplexer, and 2 and 3 are together, like the gate shifted too soon and sheet 2 could not get in the duplexer. I pulled the finisher and looked for obstructions and found none. Works fine in landscape.

I have not seen this. I would look at the clutches and sensors in the duplexer. I believe the clutches are the same so swap out one or two and see if the error code changes.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Agree with clutches. Watch the paper move thru the ADU thru air slits. Paper is supposed to stop at precise intervals. My bet the clutches are sticking and one passes right thru.

I believe those clutches are easy to disassemble, and clean up nicely with alcohol. Has worked fine with me, and saves a little extra driving.
