I am have to replace a hard drive on a cs5551ci tomorrow because the customer is getting rid of the machine. I have not done any work on this model. I was hoping someone could share the correct way of doing that. Such as saving information if needed.

Re: Kyocera CS-5551Ci replace HDD
I haven't done it on this model, but basically it's just backing up the customer data ( U917, but not necessary if your disposing of it), installing the new drive, and formatting the drive in U024. I'm sure the manual covers this. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Kyocera CS-5551Ci replace HDD
Under the system menu > system, there is the Data Sanitization in there. It'll take a few hours to run, but is in there for end of lease. It'll overwrite the drive so no data can be retrieved. You really only need to data security to encrypt the data in case someone pulled the drive out of a working machine.Comment
