from time to time when running a duplex job you get a message about 2 sided copies can't be combined. there is no exact error code listed. the firmware is up to date. if you 906 it the message goes away for 3 or 4 days, then returns.

Re: Kyocera 3501i duplex issue
Take a look at the Event Log to see what error is recorded. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Kyocera 3501i duplex issue
the machine says can not make 2 sided copies due to failure. when trying to print event log it gives paper jams, service call log, maintenance log, unknown toner log. it doesnt show a failure log and it doesnt give a code.Comment

Re: Kyocera 3501i duplex issue
The problem is with the doc feeder ,duplex function is failing. Do the usual firmware update, check and reset all Doc feeder connectors and interface PCB . Also do a HDD scandisk and reformat. Make sure you first do a 917 if needed to backup and restore HDD data.Comment

Clean the white roller. It's what the CIS looks at to do white reference. If it doesn't see the white level it should, it disables the CIS,Comment

Re: Kyocera 3501i duplex issue
firmware was first thing updated. all connections for the adf have been unplugged and reseated to make certain everything was connected properly. have been through the service manual trying to find something related to the issue with no luck. have tried searching google as well with the same results. hence why i posted here was to pick a few brains. what gets me is it doesnt show a C code. so kinda hard to pinpoint exactly whats going on. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks for the input everyone. will try the things suggested that i havent tried so far.Comment

Just answer one question: Did you print the event log? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.

The service call log lists failure codes. Additionally, U904 will list total and recent failure codes.Comment

Re: Kyocera 3501i duplex issue
When any error is followed by "due to a failure", I would try u906 Partial Control. Reboot machine. If error appears again, make duplex copies on the platen. Then use the Document Processor. If it works on the platen but not through the DP, clean the Size Detection PWB under the original tray. A misdetection of original size could be causing the "Cannot be Combined" error.Comment
