    KM 4035

I posted a few days ago about a 4035 with weird problems. I have picked up an entirely different machine and popped in the print and scan cards. Everytime I go to send an email, it sends fine according to the machine, goes through all the motions, but it never shows up in my email. I have tried two different scan cards with the same results. Two different machines, same thing. So, this would lead me to beleive it is in the settings somewhere, but I know i've done it this exact same way. I have a simple network with a d link router. I input the same smtp as i do in outlook express. I can access the scanner interface from the local pc just fine and I can print ok. I am setting the DNS and gateway as my router ip. I can send through outlook ok, but cannot get it to show up from the machine. the "history of sending" in the machine shows all scans "ok". This has not been my week, or weeks. Could my router firewall be blocking it?

Thanks for the reply, but I guess I don't get exactly what you are saying to do. So should I make an exception for -sendt in my firewall?

Ever feel like a freakin' idiot? After digging around on my isp's webmail site, I found a spam folder that I didn't even know was there. My emails are all there along with some other things I've been looking for. Geez, thanks for the help. I drove 100 miles round trip today to get another scanner card. Chalk that up to stupidity. I'm going home now.........

Getting one small black line in feed direction when scanning. Only shows up when using the feeder. I've cleaned the slit glass till I can't clean no more, and then I cleaned some more. Don't see any specks on it. Am I missing something. Off the glass is fine.

Try flipping the slit glass around to see if the line moves.

There is always the scanner adjustment for lines. I've never used it, but it's worth a try.
            Hope that helps !

glad you found the scan issue.

as far as the line goes, if it is only off the dp, and you have cleaned the slit glass....take the glass out and clean the underneath and the mirrors. i've had minor success using canned air at the seams of the glass...but not much.

Notice how it's a little faded from that point on?

Two more examples: the first one was all the way dark from the feeder, the second is all the way dark from the glass. Weird. These are copies that I scanned back in

It's definitely optics. It has a void on each end. Main charge lines bleed off the edges.
                          Clean some more.
BTW, Go home, it'll be there tomorrow!

Will do, thanks. Your'e right, it will be here tomorrow, going to the house. FYI, the void is there when scanning at 600dpi, it is noticeable.......THanks very much....

optics. clean all mirrors o/c. there's also a chance of big fat streaks on the white paper deflector on the feeder, you know, the deflector just above the scannerglass. can actually shine through the paper.
