    [Electrical] Vertical black lines..

    Hello all,
i have a UTAX 5555i (its the same as a Kyocera 5501i) giving vertical black lines randomly when printing.
it has just over 1.8M on it and has recently had a new maintenance kit installed.
    Pic below,
    IMG_20191110_093423.jpg

Ive cleaned the contacts and tried a new charge and drum. the machine could print 200 pages without issue but then put lines on the next 10 pages then disappear again.
i suspect the high voltage power supply is causing the issue but wanted to ask in here to see if anyone one else has had a similar issue?

    thanks,
    mick

It looks like primary charge loss to me. See how the anomalous lines cross the edge voids? Not the laser. Is the interval 37.5mm? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Check the drum earth. Plastic tab removed before fitting?

Depending on where I measure from the lines are between 40 and 45mm apart.

Yes, tab removed from back of the drum.
Issue is random, could do 200 prints without a problem then put out 10 to 15 pages with lines.

have had this very same problem on a 5500i .
try this and see if it will solve your problem
get into sim 100....turn AC auto adj OFF... chnge the AC BIAS to any value between 107-117 and check if it helps. One of our machines has been working fine after doing that.
failure is not an option !

We have used dialectric grease on some drum shafts to correct drum shorting issues on the old Alfard series.

I had one many moons ago having a similar problem. Would have sworn it was drum grounding or MC problem. Ended up being a problem with the DV unit. Replaced the developer unit and problem was solved.

                  Hi,
why you don`t follow UTAX bulletin TB-57S to solve it?
You also can use KYO bulletin 2N9-00009 (F180)

Wow, thanks very much for this kyo_oem!
I did not see that bulletin and it describes exactly the issue I'm having.
I'll give it a shot when I'm back in with the customer tomorrow.

                      Thanks again!
