Now I have a confession to make. There was no mistake in the 3551 service manual. It was an "operator" error and the operator was me.

I mislabeled the file for the 3551 service manual. I was actually looking at a 3550 manual. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.
      Wow! Honesty & modesty.

You don't see that very often. Kudos!

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Kyocera is by far my favorite. I wish I could work for them directly. I've met many employees and they are all great. Every model seems to move in the direction of serviceability. As if they're actually listening to feedback.

I too started on Mita and owned a dealership when they went through bankruptcy, then sponsorship from Kyocera.
Kyocera's used to be the best with Task Alpha Series 2, 3 and 4....then a complete redesign which I hated. Mono machines would get toner splashing from toner building up on dev seal...their fix was to changed the gear and have the motor reverse so the thumping of the gears would shake toner off seal. The clicking sounded like a gear breaking...LOL. And the colour machines would mist toner so badly that cassette 1 pickup rollers would get coated and cause jams...their fix...add mylar tape and sponge over the openings... toner would just pile up in the machines.
I must have PTSD from them....LOL

Odd, we never had any of those issues. The only series of machines that were big steaming piles were the 2126 and the 250 through 500 machines, every other machine has been great for us.
