    cs306ci black smudges

Ive got two of these in the field. The newest has only 9500 coipes on it and are getting black smudges/partial lines, usually on first copy or print. I tried a new drum unit and made no difference. I saw where a technical bulletin was issued for new DV units on the cs300ci, but different part number than cs306ci. Any fix other than DV unit replacement?

Have you tried stopping the copy before comes out of the fuser? Can you post an example?

I think I have had this before. Might be helpful if we could see a page with the problem.

You might want to check the cleaning unit on the transfer belt. I have had these backup/clog up causing smudges and generally poor CQ. Once you separate the cleaning unit from the belt (if this is the problem) you will see that it's packed. Clean it out making sure the exit nozzle is clear as well.

This has happened to me more than once on these models.

thanks Billy, NO I have not done page stop test. Problem is intermittent, like its overtoned pre-digital days. various sizes of smudges or erratic short black line like corona arcing but has PCR roller. I will try to get sample.

thanks Samanator. That does sound plausible. I will go back and check that out and get a sample if that does not correct it.

Transfer cleaning issues are pretty easy to document. Pull out the belt and look. If it's clean, you don't have a transfer cleaning issue. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Kyocera transfer belts are common for leaving random "toner comets". Theses droppings can occur on a seemingly clean belt. Also, a blurry, dirty line on "first page out" is usually transfer belt.

If we have "faulty" transfer cleaning
in most cases it`s visible by eventlog.
If c76xx would logged, calibrations failed because of dirty surface from the belt.
                Remember U464 calibration cycles.

For me, it's always been the transfer belt. Have sent several back for warranty.
